The Alchemist--Can anyone tell me who the author is on this?? There's too many to guess and I didn't hear the description of the book to guess which one.

Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card

These weren't ones recommended last night, but my brother has been recommending them for a long time, so I thought I'd throw them out there for anyone that likes this style of book/author. Brandon Sanderson also wrote the Mistborn series that has been highly recommended at several previous book club nights:

The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson

The Wheel of Time Series by Robert Jordan 

                  The last 3 books in this series were actually written by Brandon Sanderson at Robert Jordan's request. Robert was dying of complications from a rare blood disorder and had all the notes and story prepared already and didn't want to leave his fans an unfinished story. So he asked Brandon to write the last book in the series. As Brandon was beginning to write that last book using Robert's notes, he quickly realized there was too much material for it to be one book, so he broke it up into 3 books and each book by itself is bigger by far than any of the previous books in the series.
